Victim of online scams?

Victim of online scams?

The Internet, due to its ease of use and everyday life, increases the number of purchases and economic transactions that are made but, unfortunately, the number of scams has also increased. Here we leave you some of the most used scams in recent months.

Internet scams:

Online shopping scams. They are websites that advertise high-end cars where the seller tells you that he cannot carry out the transaction because he is not in Spain but offers that an acquaintance of his will transport the vehicle after payment of money. The car does not exist and will never be delivered. This scam can also be seen in other types of purchases, not necessarily vehicles.

Charity scams. The scammer poses as a charity asking for donations for terrorist attacks, illnesses, or to care for a sick mother or child. They may use the logo of some prestigious organizations.

Fake job offers: By offering online resumes they collect your data and the scam consists of offering you a job, upon payment, with very good salary conditions and a job that will never exist.

Business opportunities / Work from home: Similar to the previous one. Very profitable jobs are offered. An amount is always requested in advance for permits, purchase of material, etc. You even go so far as to create a Web page with all the appearance of being an authentic organization that actually offers the business or job.

Credit Card Fraud: This fraud consists of using an apparently authentic website, where goods with very low value or fake tickets are sold, they attract you to buy them due to their low value or discount, and they ask for your credit card to pay for them.

Phone call: It involves receiving calls from public or private entities to collect your personal data. A clear example is what occurred these days with the Tax Agency, it warned that there are people who are calling taxpayers on their behalf to ask for information, such as their checking account, which they then use to make monetary charges.

Web page or popup: This is very classic and quite used. They are pages that simulate official websites with the same company logo, the object is for the user to provide their data. The most used is the “imitation” of bank web pages, the resemblance being almost identical but not the real one, an example was discovered by the Association of Internet Users and reported to the State forces: Web-Trap of mobile recharges created to steal banking details.
