Is inheritance a cause for family discussion?

Is inheritance a cause for family discussion?

When a family member dies and has left a will (inheritance), their will must be respected as long as they have complied with the legal requirements and formalities. If they do not leave a will, the provisions of civil or regional law will be followed.

The most advisable thing is to leave a clear will with a fair distribution, but it is not always a guarantee that there will be no problems between the heirs. The first problem that heirs encounter is when they have to pay the inheritance tax. Which will have to be paid without having collected the inheritance.

Even if there is a will, the inheritance of a home or land can sometimes become a source of family conflicts, fights between siblings, suspicions, envy, and resentment. The problem comes when the coexistence between the owners does not work well, then it is best for them to reach an agreement between them so that one of them keeps the percentage of the rest, or to sell the entire property to a third party. Another possibility is that each owner sells his or her share to whomever he wants, since everyone is free to do so. The worst alternative will be resolved through a judicial process unless there is an agreement between the heirs.

In the event that the will has not been read and one of the heirs refuses to open it, the first thing to do is obtain a death report for the family member, and request a certificate of his/her last wishes, once we obtain this document. We would send a burofax to the other heirs informing them that we are going to request a copy of said will, although the most coherent thing is that all the heirs were at the same time, but in case the others refuse, we all have the right, if we are heirs, to request copy of the will whether or not the other heirs are present.
